This after-school program teaches mixing, mastering, and music production skills. Students prep for college-level courses and entry-level studio jobs.

Open to students interested in learning woodwind, brass, percussion, and string instruments. No prior experience needed—just a passion for music! Currently serving 38 students and welcoming more!
Our rehearsals and classes are designed to fit into students’ academic schedules while providing consistent, high-quality training.

first fridays series: René Avila's AFRO CUBAN BAND
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Location: BandWith, 148 S. California Avenue
Once a month on the first Friday, join us for a community dance lesson with live music for all ages + skill levels. Each First Fridays features local Chicago musicians and a different genre of music every month.
March Guest: René Avila is the band leader for a traditional Afro Cuban band. His ensembles play traditional Cuban from the Golden Ages of the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s – still keeping the Afro Cuban format.

Once a month on Saturday, the Music Library becomes a gathering space for music lovers, storytellers, and curious listeners.
Our monthly Sound Session features René Avila, who will share the Afro Cuban sounds and inspirations that have shaped his life. Whether you are a lifelong listener or just discovering new sounds, this community-focused listening experience offers a welcoming space to explore how music connects us and preserves history.

international jazz day: neighborhood night

Chicago is hosting International Jazz Day’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, coinciding with the United States’ 250th Anniversary, making it a once-in-a-generation cultural milestone. The celebrations showcase Chicago’s legacy and leadership in the world of jazz — past, present, and future — while advancing the mission to elevate the music, support the artists, and connect communities through the power of jazz.
Celebrate International Jazz Day with a jazz showcase reflecting West Side heritage with the Marques Carroll Quintet, Chicago Jesuit Academy, and BandWith Chicago youth.
